Haiku Book Review

I had fun with the Faulkner, so I thought I would "Haiku Book Review" some of the books I've read since then. I am sure there are a million pages, a million blogs that do this, but I haven't seen them and for the time being I'm not googling it; I'm simply going to enjoy my great idea.

*
The Gastronomical Me - MFK Fisher
Eight courses or more
She remembers every meal
Memoir in food, yum.
*
The Heart of the Matter - Graham Greene
Catholicism
Gin gin gin gin gin gin gin
Scobie finds life hard.
*
Bright Lights, Big City - Jay McInerney
80s in New York
The C and the Second P...
the effect works here.
*
The Master and Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov
To Hell with Moscow!
Cat a compulsive liar
Devilishly fun.

Anyway, I'm not doing any of these books justice by doing this, they are much better than that. I've had a good run in the past few weeks: all good books.

cuddle time

A lot of you have asked how Elf is coping with our new baby. At first he was a little overly curious, and then realizing what exactly she meant in terms of how we lavish our attention, he was a little jealous. We try to give equal attention, but, for example, Elf isn't allowed in the bedroom anymore: he's stinky and hogs the bed and started growling at Aaron and trying to take possession of me/bed by claiming Aaron's side; but the kitty sleeps there (on my face, always...). And she's still a baby and also isn't afraid of the kitchen, so she makes herself very available for lovin's.
However, I think it's fair to say he's over his initial dismay.

It's just what he always wanted: a new toy to love. They chase each other all around the house, playing. She attacks his tail, he pretend-nibbles her.

But then I caught them in the act of some serious nap-time cuddling and snapped a shot. I think they'll be fine together.

Garfield minus Garfield

Here is something I just discovered: link.
Blurb:
Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolor disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against lonliness in a quiet American suburb.

This somehow makes me feel so good about my life today.

A Short Review of The Sound and the Fury

Nuts Fam'ly: conflict
Delicious Southern Gothic
Retard smartest one?

Seriously, though, this might be the best book I've ever read. Probably not. But it's really good. I get it now. Faulkner is God-like after all.
