Dusty and Julie got us a fully-loaded picnic basket as a wedding gift. Little did they know, Aaron and I are pretty much Professional Picnickers and were in need of a new tote (our old basket busted last summer, so we threw it out before we moved).
Saturday, we went to the Core Arboretum in Morgantown on the first picnic of the season. It was spontaneous, and we made due with what we had in the kitchen.
Menu:
- spinach and mushroom quiche (bought, not homemade, but still yummy)
- baby spinach, mushroom, and beet salad with a raspberry balsamic vinaigrette
- Aaron whipped up a pasta salad with a package of tortellini, a tomato, red olives, sauteed garlic, sun dried tomatoes, parm, and pine nuts. It was amazing.
Elf came along. We want to make a point of doing this more often. Especially now that we have such awesome picnic gear.
